Grand Haven Beach

Lake Michigan beaches are great for swimming.  Watch the children carefully though.  Don't let them go out too far and get swept away.

I took this photo on the beach in Grand Haven, Michigan.  The sand is called singing sand due to the quartz content.  Drag a toe or shoe across damp sand and you may hear it sing.

This summer we watched pole vaulting on the beach, a sand castle contest and volley ball.

Under the Bridge: Danger

Under the Straits of Mackinac there is an aging pipeline that could put an end to fishing in our freshwater seas.  Under the Mackinac Bridge and aging pipeline needs to be removed.  Forever.
